Randall Andrew
Randall Ray Andrew, son of Ralph and Rayola Andrew, was born Aug. 6, 1942, at Osceola and died June 24, 2003. He was 60.

He grew up in Grand River and received his elementary education in Grand River. His family moved to Osceola in 1958 and he graduated from Clarke Community High School in 1960.

He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War and served his country with the United States Army in the Corps of Engineers.

He married Linda Joyce Morris on April 30, 1972, at Las Vegas, Nev., and they became the parents of four children, Richard, Rodney, Clay and Jeana.

Mr. Andrew began working for his parents when he was 14 and was in the construction business for 46 years but purchased Andrew Construction Company 25 years ago. He and Mrs. Andrew also owned and operated the NAPA Auto Parts Store in Osceola for 17 years.

Mr. Andrew was an avid hunter, He enjoyed hunting elk, deer, moose and caribou. He also enjoyed cutting, welding and restoring antique construction equipment and cars. He even built the first pipe bedder machine, which was later manufactured by Simco and was sold by Andrew Construction.

He was a private pilot; a member of the Clarke County Old Iron Club; Historical Truck Society; Historical Construction Equipment Association; former member of the Clarke County Sheriff’s Posse; the Rambling Riders Motorcycle Club and the United Methodist Church in Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Andrew, grandmother, Goldie Adams Boles; aunt, Agnes Graves; two uncles Vern and Ray Andrew and an aunt, Dorothy Scudder.

He is surived by his wife, Linda of Osceola; three sons, Richard “Rick’ Andrew and his wife, Nicki Andrew, of Osceola and their children, Taylor and Sara; Rodney Andrew and his wife, Andrea Andrew, of Ankeny and their children, Haley and Sydney; Clay Andrew and his wife Jodi Andrew, of Osceola and their daughter, Maeci; his daughter, Jeana DeRoos and her husband, Dan DeRoos, of Coralville; his mother, Rayola Andrew of Osceola; his mother-in-law, Mary Morris of Osceola; an uncle Donald Andrew and his wife, Marie Andrew, of Des Moines and aunt, Margaret Andrew of Leon; as well as other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Andrew were June 28 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, the Rev. Hugh Stone of the Osceola United Methodist Church officiating. Organist Barb Audlehelm accompanied Larry Versteegt as he sang How Great Thou Art, Amazing Grace, Wind Beneath My Wings.

Casket bearers were Gary Morris, Steve Jurshak, Doyle Curnes, Travis Wright, Mike Fry and David Curnes. Honorary bearers were Charlie Uecker, Dan Hooper, Mick Gable, George McCann, Taylor Andrew, Kenny Wilder, Mark Crawford, David Graves and Con Smith.

Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Osceola. Military rites were presented by Davis Pence Post No. 69 Osceola.
