Osceola Sentinel, Clarke Co., IA
June 18, 1885

David Bonar died in this city June 15 after an illness, very severe at times, and especially in the last few days, of five months. His mind was clear at the last and he bade a quiet farewell to his friends.

He was born in Coshocton Co, OH in 1810, was 75 year 4 months and 17 days old when he died. He became a member of the Christian Church in 1851 in Stark Co, IL where he then lived, having been married in 1835.

He moved to Iowa with his family in 1853 coming to Hopeville in this county but in a few years was elected county Sheriff and moved to Osceola where he has lived filling some office of honor and trust almost all the time. He has always sustained the character of an honorable and highly esteemed Christian gentleman and all who knew him feel that he has gone to his reward.

His wife and five children survive him. The funeral services were held at the house on Wednesday Reverend Sparks addressing the friends.
