Amy J. Fowler

Amy J. Fowler was one of those extraordinarily wonderful persons with whom we have had the privilege of knowing and loving. She was born on December 10, 1875, and completed her earthly pilgrimage on November 9, 1970, just a month short of being 95 years old. Her parents were Philip L. Fowler and Maggie McKee Fowler. Her grandparents were pioneers of Osceola and founders of the local Methodist Church.

She lived her entire life in this community which she loved dearly. Amy was a keenly intelligent and well read and well informed person who kept up on world events all her life. Her many friends appreciated her grand sense of humor and found in her a continual source of inspiration. She was a very progressive person and always had many civic interests.

During World War II, she opened her home for the Red Cross and turned her whole upstairs into working rooms for the many Red Cross workers. She was a member of Osceola’s P.E.O. organization. Amy loved the Lord and was a hard worker in the Methodist Church. She had the faith and courage to rise above all handicaps and was truly a great Christian person in judgment of those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters. She is survived by her sister Mary Banta of Osceola; nephews; Frank W. Manning of Norris, Tennessee, and John F. Fowler of La Hoya, California; nieces; Ruth Banta of Osceola, Iowa; Mrs. M. J. Williamson of Seoul, Korea; Mrs. Benjamin Cogswell of Hermosa Beach, California; and a host of friends.
