Mrs. Inez Forney

Mary Inez Petrie Forney, daughter of Wm. H. and Christina Petrie was born May 14, 1883 in Clarke county and passed away February 25, 1965 at the Cass Street Rest Home.

She was married to Merton L. Forney January 31, 1905. To this union one son, John Richard Forney was born. Her husband, Merton passed away in 1933 and her son, John passed away in 1958. She was educated in the Clarke county schools and Simpson college. She taught school for several years, was County Recorder for six years and worked in the R.E.A. office for several years.

She leaves to morn her passing a grandson, James Merton Forney and wife, Gloria and two great grandchildren, John Richard and Jodie Rae Forney. She leaves also her daughter-in-law, Ruth Tillery, a sister, Mrs. Phoebe Farley, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth Petrie and Mrs. S.A. Wilson and family and a devoted cousin, Miss Leona Wilcox of Des Moines.

She was a member of the Methodist church and enjoyed attending church services and Sunday school.

Inez was a woman of high ideals and was well liked in the community in which she lived. She always had time to stop and inquire about the welfare of each and every one with whom she came in contact. She was a lover of nature and all the beautiful things in life. Besides the above named relatives she had several cousins of whom she was fond and friends numbered by the score by whom she will be greatly missed.

Services were held at the Webster Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon, Feb.27 with the Rev. Earl V. Nelson of the Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Maple Hill cemetery.
