JEAN CAROL KILTS, Eatonville, WA

Jean Carol (Smith) Kilts was called by our Lord on June 30, 2010, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Osceola, Iowa on November 22, 1944.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Kilts, her children: David, Robert, Katherine and Rebecca, seven grandchildren, her sister, Jane (Jeryl) Schmitt o f H a m p t o n , I o w a , brother-in-law Keith Davis of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Arthur and Mabel Smith, sister Judith Ann Davis and infant grandson.

She grew up near Truro, Iowa and family moved to Woodward, Iowa in 1960. Sh e g r a d u a t e d f r o m Woodward High in 1963. She married Michael Kilts on March 22, 1964. They lived in various locations while Mike served in the Air Force, including Washingto n D . C . ; M y n a r d, Nebraska; Scott AFB, Illinois; Blytheville, Arkansas and Libya, Africa, later retiring near Eatonville, Washington.

She received her Masters Degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha. Jean worked several years for Child Protection Services and the Casey Foundation.

Jean was known for her sunny smile and for helping others. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, sewing, crafts and homeschooling her grandson Joe.

Funeral Services were held in Eatonville, WA at Eatonville United Methodist Church on Monday, July 5, 2010. Burial will be at the Murray Cemetery, Iowa following services at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Iowa on Sunday, July 11, 2010 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the f a m i l y would l i k e t o request donations to charities close to Jeans heart, including Eatonville United Methodist Church and World Vision.
