MRS. CAROLINE GETSCH.
After having been an invalid for the past 14 years, Mrs. Caroline Getsch passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Anna Woehrle, about 6 o’clock Friday evening, Oct. 14. Fourteen years ago Mrs. Getsch fell and broke her hip, since which time she was an invalid. About 2½ years ago she again fell, which made her condition worse, and the past 11 months she had been confined to her bed. Her age was 76 years, 2 months and 19 days.
Caroline Hanna was born in Wolenbeutel, Brunswick, Germany, July 25, 1834. She was married at the age of 21 to Ferdinand C. Getsch, and in the year 1863 came to America, settling at McGregor, Iowa. About the year 1870 Mr. and Mrs. Getsch, moved to Bradford, living there until 1876, when they moved to Nashua, which place has been the home of the deceased up to the time of her death. Since the death of her husband, who died Oct. 16, 1904, she had lived with her daughter, Miss Louise Getsch in the home they owned until a year ago last February when the home was broken up and she made her home with her son, Will, and later with her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Woehrle. She was the mother of 10 children, one daughter, Mrs. Lora Wentworth, having died in 1893. The living children are as follows: Charles H., of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Emma Mottershed of Mason City; Mrs. Millie Heath, Miss Bertha, and F. C., of North Yakima, Wash., and Louise, Mrs. Anna E. Woehrle and Will F., of Nashua.
She was a member of St. Luke’s German Episcopal church, and lived a consistant member. She was an ideal mother besides being a good Christian woman and her every day life was truly a benediction.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. W. Sinden, of Reinbeck, at the home Monday afternoon and the interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
