DIED-Feb. 18, 1876, Margaret E. Connery, daughter of Edward and Bridget Connery, of New Hampton Tp.
Many will read the above sad notice with feeling of regret and sorrow, knowing that they have lost a most estimable friend and companion, and the community, one of its best members. Probably none knew her worth and goodness of heart better than the writer, having known her for years and was for several terms his teacher. The many good precepts, both moral and religious, she has taught, will never be forgotten. Miss Connery was ill for nine weeks before her death, and everything that medical aid and family care could do could not save her to her relatives and friends was done, bit inexorable death had marked his victim, of which she seemed conscious from the begriming, all the services of the Catholic church of which she was a friends and consistent member were rendered and she did in its consoling grace.
The funeral procession was one of the largest ever had in the community there being 115 vehicle and many were in attendance on foot. What better tribute of respect and regard could be rendered to the memory of a departed friend. The father of the deceased, Mr. Edward Connery, is one of the oldest and most respected citizens of the county. He has many friends who sympathize with him in his sorrowing condition; but who, knowing the exemplary Christian life of his departed child, would, if they could, recall her back from that blest abode that has no ending.
Calm on the bosom of thy God,
Young spirit! Rest thee now,
Even while with us thy footsteps trod,
His seal was on thy brow.Lone are the paths, and sad the bowers,
Whence thy meek smile is gone;
But O! a brighter home than ours,
In heaven is now thine own!
