DIED
GORDON – At her home in Jacksonville, Aug 31, 1893, Mrs. John A. Gordon, in her 27th year of her age. Deceased was born in Dane County, Wis., and removed with her parents to Iowa in 1877, settling in this county where she has resided all the time until her death as stated. Her maiden name was Ellingson and she was joined in marriage with John A. Gordon in June, 1886, and bore him two children, a boy and girl. Her life has been that of a prudent, careful housewife, looking well to the ways of her household and making the heart of her husband rejoice in her; she was a dutiful daughter, a kind and obliging neighbor, a fond and loving wife and mother, and leaves the world better for her having lived in it. Her stay was brief but she has done what she could and the home circle will be very gloomy without the cheerful wife and mother whose presence was the sun and light of the home. Missed by all who knew her, but by the little girl and boy more than any other, for “there is no love like mother’s love” in all this wide world, and to close the eyes of a mother is the saddest duty of life to the little child this is a partial eclipse of the sunlight of their entire life. The funeral was held in the Lutheran Church of Crane Creek, of which she was a member, Saturday, Sept 1st, and all that was mortal of this loving lady was laid to rest in the lap of mother earth. The husband and children and other friends have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
