Died
JENSEN – At the home of her son, Thos. Attleson, in Jacksonville Township, Friday morning, June 4, 1897, Mrs. Sigre Jensen, aged about 77 years. Deceased was a native of Norway. She was married to Attle Jenson in 1840 and together they came to the United States and in 1864 to Chickasaw County, where she resided continuously up to the time of her death. Her husband died in 1878. Seven children survive her, four sons and three daughters: James, John, Edward and Thomas, and Mrs. Carrie Johnson, Mrs. Martha Johnson and Mrs. K. O. Sweeten, all of this county.
Mrs. Jensen was a woman of strong physique and robust health, just such a constitution as is required to brave the hardships of a pioneer life. She was a good, kind mother and a neighborly neighbor. The illness which terminated her long life of usefulness was of only short duration. Up to a short time before her death she enjoyed exceptionally good health and it was meet that her declining years were free from the racking pains of lingering disease. She died peacefully and quietly in the consciousness of a life well spent. The funeral occurred Saturday morning at the Crane Creek church in Jacksonville Township.
