Johnson rites held Sunday
Severt Johnson, 87, died early Thursday, September 6, at St. Joseph Community Hospital at New Hampton. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Crane Creek, with the pastor, Rev. Robert Slade, officiating. Barbara Jerdee was soloist and Marilyn Weber was organist. Hymm selections included “How Great Thou Art”. Interment was in Crane Creek Cemetery with George Jerdee, Joseph Jerdee, Arthur Lee, Iver Njus, John Sieverts, and Eldred Johnson serving as casket bearers.
Severt Olei Johnson was born January 19, 1892, in Howard County, the son of Ole and Anna Johnson. He attended the rural schools. February 5, 1919, he was united in marriage to the former Annetta Hereid, at the Crane Creek parsonage. Following their marriage, the Johnsons farmed in Howard and Chickasaw counties. Mr. Johnson was baptized and confirmed at the Jerico Lutheran Church. He was a member of Immanual Church. He was preceeded in death by: his parents; two brothers, one in infancy and Joe Johnson, and three sisters, Martha Moses, Clara Hereid, and Lena Fauberg.
He is survived by: his wife; one brother, Alvie, New Hampton; five sisters, Mrs. Bessie Amman, Alta Vista, Mrs. Annie Paulson, Mrs. J. C. (Gertrude) Johnson, Mrs. Ole J. (Alice) Johnson, all of New Hampton and Mrs. Orre Johnson, Waucoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
