MRS. JANE DURST0N.
Jane Grey was born near Bennington, Vermont, Feb. 10, 1827, and was married to Edmund W. Durston, June 8, 1857. For some time they lived at Palmyra, Wisconsin. Coming to Iowa in the fall of 1865, they settled in Richland Township, where is still the family home. There were in the family nine children—three by the former mother. To the deceased were born three sons and three daughters, all of whom are living. Her devoted companion preceded her to the other shore nine years ago, during their residence In Nashua, making this the that family gathering where neither father nor mother could respond to the voices of their dear ones. Life's journey must be finished without their presence or kind counsel. But, though dead, they speak in the lives and characters of their children.
The deceased had been in feeble health, for a long time and the Angel of Death was not unexpected. He did not surprise her; she had made life's journey her day of privilege and preparation.
She was not pretentious in her religious duties, but she was firm in the faith, and steadfast in the hope of gospel. She was a daily and faithful student of the word of God. Her end was peace. "The righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance." The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Edmonds, of Ionia, Saturday, June 8, where she made her home and where she finished her pilgrimage, and were conducted by J. H. Hoskyn of Winthrop, Iowa, a long-time friend and for former pastor.
