OBITUARY

Mrs. Sadie Aletta Hays was born in Turbitsville, Northumberland, Co. Penn., May 10, 1854. Came with her parents to Lena, Ill., in April 1865 where her mother died in December of the same year.

In 1869 she came with her father and two sisters to Waverly, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage which took place April 19,1874 at which time she was united to George W. Tabor with whom she lived happily until the time of her death which occurred Sept. 10, 1901 after a long sickness.

She was the mother of three children one of whom an infant died March 31 1878. She now leaves her little girl Gracie, aged 12 years and boy Allen aged 8 years, to mourn the loss of a dear affectionate mother. She also leaves a bereaved husband and two sisters all of whom were permitted to be present and bid her a long farewell. She was converted and joined the M.E. Church at Waverly in 1873 in which church she has ever since been a faithful member, always interested in the welfare of the church. She was a kind neighbor, ever ready to help others, a very affectionate devoted wife and mother. While she was prepared to go and often spoke of going to heaven, yet she longed to get well for the sake of her family, but she was enabled to say with our martyred president "God's will, not ours, be done."

Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church Sunday afternoon conducted by her pastor.

A large concourse of sorrowing, friends gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased and to sympathize with the husband and children, and the two remaining sisters and after the sermon from the text Rev. XXII 5, the remains were quietly laid to rest in Graceland cemetery.

May the Great Comforter abide with the bereaved ones.
