D1ED—At the home of his step son, George Tabor, Sept 15, 1901, Allen Wheeler, of heart failure, aged 75 years.

Deceased was born May 2S, 1826, in Tiago County, Penn., and came to this county in 1849, and purchased a farm in Utica township. He served in the civil war, enlisting in the 38th Iowa Volunteers in 1862 and served throe years, returning to this county in 1865. He was united in marriage with Sarah Tabor in 1879 and settled on the farm in Utica township where they lived until 1886 when they moved to this city to reside with their son.

Mrs. Tabor died on Dec. 6, 1897.

Deceased had been sick only a short time and during his illness his step-son cared for him and was all to him that his own son might have been and is the only relative in this city to mourn his death, a brother, Chas. Wheeler of California and a niece, Mrs. Leona Cook of Mason City, are the only surviving relatives.

Mr. Wheeler was a good christian man and was honest in his dealings with his fellow man. He was kind of heart and had many friends among the people of this city.

The funeral was held from the Methodist church this afternoon 2 o'clock, Rev. Norton officiating. The remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife in Graceland cemetery.
