Lera Grover was born Nov. 4, 1884, at Fredericksburg, Iowa. Some eight years ago she came to New Hampton with her parents. Death came twice to the home, removing both her beloved mother and father. At the age of twelve she was converted and united with the Baptist church. Her life was very full of trust and hope in the Savior. She was unlike most girls in that one could not be with her long without hearing her say something about her love of Christ and His service. She was not satisfied with the answer to many religious questions that would be accepted by most young people, but would probe deeper into them in the hope of finding a solution. She was very kind to everyone. The dumb animals were treated with great tenderness, always, by her. The church in all of its departments has sustained a great loss in her removal. She leaves a host of friends who are grieved over her departure, yet they feel the truth of the words of the text it is "Far Better."

The funeral was held from the Baptist church Monday at 10:30, Rev. Canine officiating. The remains were taken to Republic and laid by the side of her father and mother in the Alcock cemetery. Those from out of town who wore in attendance at the funeral were: , Mrs. E. M. Burbank, Mr. Grover, Mr. and Mrs. 0. N. Judge, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Hassell, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Russell, Mrs. F. L. Kendall and Miss Ellen Russell of the 'Burg and Mr and Mrs. Chas Alcott, Mrs. Pratt, Miss Mabel Pratt and Marvin Pratt of Frederika.
