Another Veteran Mustered Out.

Under the above heading the Cedar Falls Gazette prints the following obituary of a former well-known citizen of this county.

Chester Warriner has joined the large army of veterans on "fames' eternal camping ground," death occurring at 7:40 a. m. Thursday, March 21st, after an illness of some months, following a stroke of paralysis. Not a word of complaint has ever been heard from him by his faithful wife and daughter, who have so tenderly ministered to his case.

Chester Warriner was born in Bennington, New York June 29, 1831. At the age of 22 he went to Columbus, Wis., and three years later, July 6, 1856 was joined in marriage to Delana A. Doty, at Lake Mills, Wis. They moved back to his old home in New York; and after living there thirteen years, came to Chickasaw county, Iowa, where they resided until 1888; since that time have lived in Cedar Falls. Three daughters were born to them, the oldest dying at the age of three years. Mrs. H. F. Hunt of Chicago, who arrived at his bedside Wednesday, too late to be recognized; Miss Millicent Warriner, and the bereaved wife survive him. Two sisters, residing in New York, are the only near relatives.

Deceased was a corporal in Co. H. 136 N. Y. Vol. He was wounded in the battle at Gettysburg and after recovering was made a sergeant in the U. S. Signal Corps, completing a faithful, honorable yrmy [sic] service of about three years, until mustered out at the close of the war. The limited pension of $6 per month he has received, was about to be increased, but as in many such deserving cases, will come too late to reward meritorious service or supply the needs of declining years.

Funeral services under the auspices of the G. A. R. of which he was a respected member, will be held at the home at 2 and at the M. E. church at 2:30 p. m. tomorrow, Saturday, conducted by Rev. R. A. Smith assisted by Rev. F. W. Luce.

Deceased was kind, patient and faithful in all the duties and responsibilities of life and leaves many friends. A brother of Mrs. Warriner, D. P. Doty, arrived yesterday from Waupun, Wis., to attend the funeral.
