Near the hour of midnight Sunday, January 13, 1901, our brother, Orlando D. Grover, was called out of this life.

He was born in Harrison, Winnebago county, Ill., June 28, 1858. At the age of six years he came to this state with his parents where be has since resided. Upon several occasions he has taken extended journeys through various states in search of more favorable climatic conditions for his health.

September 4, 1879, he was married to Miss Luella Link and to them was was given one daughter, Lera. May 1, 1894, death entered the home and removed the beloved companion and mother. In June, 1895, Mr. Grover married Mrs. Nellie Costello, who with the one daughter survive him. His father and one brother and sister are also living, all of whom were present at his death.

At the age of 20 Mr. Grover was converted and became a member of the United Brethren church. Some four years ago he connected himself with the Baptist church of New Hampton and proved by every act and word that he was strong in the Lord. The church may well take notice: "Know ye not that there is a prince and a great man fallen this day in Israel?" The word of God was his staff, his rod and his great support. How frequently he has stood up among us in our meetings and by promise after promise has assured us of the infinite mercy of our Father. He carried this spirit of Christ into his home and into his business daily. Few could converse with him for a little time without taking knowledge that he had been, with Christ his Lord.

As a neighbor and a citizen his life was full of that kindness and honorableness that won for him the respect and love of all. As he grew weaker, the patience manifested in his suffering bore testimony to his goodness and faith in God. It was this same consolation and hope in Christ that enabled him to nod, a few minutes before his death, in response to the question, Is it well," "Yes' And we believe it is. "Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." ***
