OBITUARY.
Died at her home in this city Saturday morning, November 9th, 1901, Mrs. Elizabeth Davidson in the seventy-First year of her age. Elizabeth Lucas was born in Warren county. Ohio, December 15th, 1830, and when a child her parents moved to Laporte county, Indiana, and in 1849 she became the wife of John Davidson. In 1858 they undertook the journey from Indiana to this state by team and arrived here after a tedious journey and located on Crane Creek, in Jacksonville township in this county and commenced making a home. They resided on the farm until 1887 when they moved to the city where Mr. Davidson died in 1897. Mrs. Davidson was a woman of strong individuality and her home life, was that of a devoted mother and loving wife, looking well to the interests of her family she made for her children a pleasant environment and for her husband a home where peace and love made rest for the often weary toiler.
She waS a member of the Baptist church of Jacksonville and when she came to this city she united with the church here of the same faith and remained a devoted member until the Master said: "It is enough come up higher." She leaves five children to mourn the loss of a dear mother who loved and cared for them as only a mother can. J, F. of Lamont, Iowa, C. L. of Ionia, T. H. of Springfield, Mo., W. E. who is now in California and Mrs. J. C. Hewitt of Jacksonville. The funeral was held Monday at 2 o'clock p. m. in the Baptist church Rev. W. P. Canine, pastor of the church officiating and the body was laid to rest in Graceland cemetery.
