Obituary of Cecil Chamberlain.

DIED.—At the home of his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Brookins, of Ionia, March 24, 1899, Cecil Chamberlain, in the twentieth year of his age.

Deceased was born near Necedah, Wis, Nov. 22, 1880, and grew to manhood and drew to himself a large circle of friends. Two years ago he came to Ionia to visit relatives and while here he won many friends and could not leave Ionia with the intention of not returning; and his many friends always were pleased to hear of his return. In August he bade his friends adieu and departed for Minnesota, where he had secured a position on the Great Northern railway. He was employed there only a few months when he received a severe fall and was sent to his home in Necedah. After a few weeks' illness he began work in a paper mill in Nekoosa, Wis., and then went to Cloquet, Minn., and worked in another mill there, but his health did not permit him to work only a few weeks, when he returned to Ionia March 12, where his friends gave him a warm welcome, and especially the home of his aunt and uncle. But, alas, he was here only a few days when he was taken ill with scarlet fever and died March 24, 1899.

Bert and Frank Chamberlain of Necedah, Wis., and Herman Chamberlain of Ionia; three sisters, Susie and Alice of Necedah, and Mrs. Mary Langendorf of Germantown, Wis., besides many friends to mourn his death. The body was laid to rest in the Greenwood cemetery Saturday, March 25, and as the disease was contagious no sermon was preached the day of the burial, but was preached Sunday, April 30, in the Congregational church in Ionia Rev. McLeary, the pastor, preaching the sermon. He has gone to meet a mother who was called home ten long years ago and to await the coming of loved ones here.

We shall miss you, dearest Cecil,
Miss your coming night and morn;
The place you filled shall now be vacant
Until we meet on the sunny shore. A FRIEND.
