Obituary
At her home in Dresden township, Oct. 3, 1900, occurred the death of Laura Maria Fankhauser, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fankhauser after an illness of less than twenty-four hours.

Laura was born Jan. 22, 1888, in the vicinity of New Hampton. The twelve years of her short life have all been spent in this county. She was a kind and loving daughter. She was the light of her home. It was her delight to assist in lightening the burdens of father and mother. Whatever her loving hands found to do she did willingly. It made no difference whether the task was in the house with her mother or on the farm with her father. She was a great favorite of her father and could very often be found with him at his work. She was also an affectionate sister and leaves four brothers to mourn her loss—Albert, Eddie, Oscar and Hay.

She was always a loving and studious child in the schoolroom, and was loved by her teacher and schoolmates. She bad been committing the poem, "The Reaper and the Flowers" to speak at the closing day exercises at school. Little we thought that before she had completed the task, "the reaper whose name is Death." would come,-with his sickle keen," and claim our Laura as one of his flowers.

"O, not in cruelty, not in wrath,
The reaper came that day
'Twas an angel visited the Green earth
And took our Laura away."

The sorrowing parents have the deepest heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in which they live. We would point them to the Great Comforter, who said, blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted," who also said, "Suffer little children to come unto me and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
