LAWLER - Joseph John Goss, 88, of Lawler, died at home Monday, June 22.
He was born Dec. 30, 1920, on a farm north of Lawler, son of Ambrose Michael and Florence Ann Canty Goss. On Feb. 18, 1947, he married Signora Attleson at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton. She preceded him in death.
Mr. Goss was a 1938 graduate of Lawler High School and had served in the U.S Navy as an aviation machinist. He worked at the former Eikoff Hardware from 1944 until 1993. He also was a rural mail carrier from 1949 until retiring in 1986, and raised livestock for over 20 years.
Survived by: four sons, Gene of Lawler, Bill (Maureen) of Sumner, Jim (Teresa) of Columbus, Ohio, and Mike of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three daughters, Cheryl (Vern) Ostrander of Des Moines, Jan Summers of Ankeny and Sue (Jim) Muth of Scottsdale; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Mary Eugene Goss PBVM of Dubuque.
Preceded in death by: a grandson; a brother, Eugene; and a sister, Madonna Guenther.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler, with burial and military honors in the church cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 6 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also an hour before services Friday at the church.
