IONIA - Joan Ann Havlik , 68, of Ionia, died Saturday, June 2, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, following a brief illness.
She was born March 30, 1939, on the North Washington family farm in Chickasaw County, daughter of Peter and Romana Hugeback Wentz. On Sept. 3, 1960, she married Alolph Havlik Jr. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington.
Mrs. Havlik attended high school in North Washington, then attended St. Mary's Nursing School of Practical Nursing in Rochester, Minn., graduating in 1960. She worked as a nurse in Waterloo for 32 years, retiring in 1996.
Survivors include: her husband; two daughters, Dana (Dr. Dean) Shoener of St. Charles, Ill., and Darci (Brian) Tauke of Chicago; three sons, Dean of Atlanta, Ga., David of Iowa City and Doug (Tami) of Cedar Falls; two granddaughters; and a brother, Wayne Wentz of Indian Springs, Nev.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, both in North Washington. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. rosary, a 7 p.m. Scripture service and a 7:30 p.m. video memorial tribute. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
