Funeral services for Bernard “Bud” Douglas of New Hampton were held at 10:30 a.in. Friday, November 3 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Rev. Harvey Abrahamson officiated. Interment was in New Hampton Cemetery. Pall ' bearers were: Reuben, Ray, Gary, Jerry, and Anthony Douglas and Bob Anderson and Gene Davis. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Bernard, 80, died Tuesday, October 31, 2000 at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton, of natural causes.
Bernard Hamilton Douglas was born May 7, 1920 near Saude in the home of his parents, Louis and Josephine (Anderson) Douglas. He attended the rural school in the area.
On January 31, 1942 he married Gwendolyn Kahn at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. After their marriage, they faRMed at various locations in Chickasaw County until their retirement. They moved to New Hampton in 1987.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards and attending dances.
Survivors include his wife Gwen; five daughters: Helen Nosbisch of Waterloo, Gloria Parks of New Hampton, Nonna Shea of Dodge City, KS, Nancy Bathke of Tripoli, and Angela Piper of Fredericksburg; three sons: Louis of Waterloo, Duane of Cresco, and Reuben of Denver; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Irene Anderson and Elaine Johnson both of Waterloo.
Bernard was preceded in death by two sons: Bernard and Dennis in infancy; his parents; and four brothers: Stanley, Andrew, Maynard and Lowell.
