NEW HAMPTON - Harold C. Wolfe, 79, New Hampton, died Sunday, April 16 at the New Hampton Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of natural causes.

Funeral services were 11 a.m Wednesday, April 19 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton with Rev. David McBride officiating. Organist was Gerald Bailey, accompanying those in attendance as they sang "In The Garden", "How Great Thou Art" and "Rock of Ages."

Burial with graveside military rites was in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, with Jamie Heit, Rusty Joe Barker, Jeremy Slick, Joey Slick, Shawn Randall and Christy Heit serving as casket bearers, honorary casket bearers were Shayna Randall, Caleb Barker, Brandi Eckert and Patti Slick.

Visitation was after 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 18 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 7 p.m. Scripture Service, and also an hour prior to services at the church.

Harold Charles Wolfe was born Nov. 27, 1920 at Creston, NE, the son of Ira and Hazel (Nelson) Wolfe. He graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School in Cedar Bluffs, NE in 1938. Harold married Martha Vrana in 1939, they were later divorced. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radarman. and was discharged in 1945. He then farmed for many years in Nebraska and Iowa. Harold married Myrtle Ransom on Dec. 20, 1969 at the Congregational United Church of Christ. Following their marriage the couple resided in the New Hampton area. He was employed as a mechanic, retiring in 1982. After his retirement, Harold worked as a farm hand for Max Steege for 16 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Charles City.

Surviving are two sons, Harold Jr., Lake Zurich, IL and William, Park Forest, IL; one daughter, Patricia, Park Forest, IL; five stepdaughters, Luana Heit, Donna Suck and Pat Randall, all of New Hampton, Julie Greene, Fredericksburg, Jodie Pickett, Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Johnson, Lincoln, NE; one brother, Edward Wolfe, Vancouver, Canada; a special friend, Marceile (Marcie) Christoph.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Myrtle on Feb. 4, 1989; one sister, Jeanne Renegar.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa.
