NEW HAMPTON -Loretta J. Winter, 93, New Hampton, died Monday, March 20 at her home of natural causes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 24 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, New Hampton, with Rev. Marvin Salz and Rev. David Pepper con-celebrating. Placing tne pall on the casket will be her three children. Lectors will be granddaughters, Nancy Messner and Julie Havel. Crossbearer is Cory .Messner and mass servers are Ashley Fahey and Jennifer Winter. Offertory gifts will be presented by granddaughters, Peggy Dononoe, Diane von Ah, Donna Bugge, Lara Knott and Jackie Sharp. Dorothy Denner is Eucharistic Minister. Music for the service will be provided by Ann Bennett as organist, the St. Mary’s Choir, Mike Winter and Joe Sharp as vocalists.

Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Hampton, with grandsons, Mike Winter, Joel kurtenbach, Lee Kurtenbach, Eric Kurtenbach, Ryan Winter and Cory Messner as pallbearers.

Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture Service.

Loretta was born near New Hampton on Dec. 20. 1906, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Krieger) Denner. She attended St. Mary's Elementary School and the New Hampton Public School, graduating in 1925. She continued her education in Cedar Falls and taught in several rural schools. On Feb. 2, 1933, Loretta married George "Pat" Winter at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton. The couple lived on a farm north of Lawler until 1968 when they retired and moved to New Hampton. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Rosary Society. Loretta enjoyed spending time with ner family, playing cards, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include one son, Donald Winter (Sharon), Lawler; two daughters, Jeanette Kurtenbach (Larry), LaJoya, TX and Joann Winter (Alvin), Lawler; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, George "Pat" on March 2, 1981; three sisters, Agnes Dockendorf, Clara Kout and Minnie Galligan; four brothers, Joseph, Theodore, Henry and Clarence Denner.
