NASHUA - Henrietta R. Stoner, 101, Nashua, died Wednesday morning, Oct. 25, 2000 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles Clity of natural causes.
Memorial services were meld at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at United Methodist Church in Nashua with Pastor Marion Sindt officiating. Ruth Bierschenk was organist, accompanying the congregational singing of "Abide With Me” and "Rock of Ages".
Inurnment will be in Web Lake Cemetery, Web Lake Township, WI at a later date.
There was no visitation. Chenoweth & Son funeral Home, Nashua, was in charge of arrangements.
Henrietta was born Sept. 17, 1899 in Keosaqua, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Vance) Rowley. She moved with her family to Des Moines in 1910, graduated from West High in 1917 and attended the University of Iowa for three years. She was united in marriage with Alva P. Stoner Sept. 25, 1926 in Des Moines. Henrietta was employed as secretary to the President of Banker's Life Insurance Co. The family moved to Indianola in 1940 and Henrietta worked as an assistant for the Warren County Superintendent of Schools. After her husband's death, she continued to live in Indianola until moving to Ames in 1965 and she became a housemother at Iowa State University. Henrietta moved to Nashua in 1970, living there until a decline in health caused her to enter Riverside Chautauqua Guest Home in 1998. Henrietta was a member of the United Methodist Church, Pi Beta Phi Sorority in college, the D.A.R. and Chapter EN of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She enjoyed vacationing at her cabin in northwestern Wisconsin.
Surviving are her daughter, Deborah Turner, Nashua; two nieces, Joanna Beals, Falls Village, CT, Christal Hopkins, Portola Valley, CA.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Alva in 1952; her parents; one sister, Fay Huttenlocher.
