FREDERICKSBURG --Woodrow W. (Pete) Melugin, 88, died Sunday Dec. 17, 2000 at the Hillcrest Home, Sumner of cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23 at the Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home, Fredericksburg.
Burial will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
Visitation will not be held.
Woodrow W. (Pete) was born June 24, 1912 in Marble Rock, the son of William and Myrtle (Keith) Melugin. He graduated from Marble Rock High School in 1930. He served in the Sea-bees with the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945 in Pacific Theater during WWII. He married Shirley Mikes on Sept. 16, 1946 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He owned and operated S & W Grocery Store in Fredericksburg for 23 years. He then worked at Sara Lee, New Hampton for ten years, retiring in 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley; one son, John Melugin, Waterloo; one daughter, Jane Brooks, Fredericksburg; one granddaughter and one sister, Ellen Gates, Charles City.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, William Melugin in infancy; two brothers, Berle and Verle Melugin and a sister, Ina Wiegmann.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
