NORA SPRINGS ~ Evelyn G. Macha, 85, formerly of New Hampton, died Saturday, April 29 of cancer at the Nora Springs Care Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 at the Jerico Lutheran Church, rural New Hampton, with Rev. Kent Dethlefsen presiding. Mary Beth Dethlefsen was organist and accompanied those- in attendance as they sang "Rock of Ages", "Beautiful Savior" and qT’m But A Stranger Here, Heaven Is My Home".

Interment was in the church cemetery with Neil, Daniel, Wayne and Gene Shaffer and Reece and Victor Ball serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was held from 3 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 1 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton and an hour before service time at the church.

Evelyn Gladys Macha was bom June 20, 1914 near Jerico, the daughter of Jens and Ellen (Samson) Anderson. She attended the rural school and was baptized and confirmed at the Jerico Lutheran Church.

Evelyn married Harry Macha on Oct. 13, 1937 at The Little Brown Church near Nashua. Following their marriage they made their home in Nora Springs. In recent years Evelyn made her home at Maple View Manor until failing health necessitated her move to the Care Center in Nora Springs on Jan. 20 of this year.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry, in 1985; an infant son, Gary Edward Macha; her parents; three brothers, Ole J. Elmer and Jens Anderson; and six sisters, Sarah Twedt, Anna Anderson, Sena Mosby, Agnes Miller, Clara Anderson and Henrietta Thompson.
