Funeral services For Janette “Nettie” Knutson were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 26, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Interment was in the Jerico Lutheran Cemetery, rural New Hampton. The Rev. Bruce M. Hobert officiated. Pall bearers were grandsons: Tim Shimek, Carl Shimek, Jr., Troy Cleveland, Casey Sebastian, Josh Katz, Andy Sebastian, and Tyler and Kyle Dar-land. Honorary pall bearers were granddaughters: Brenda Katz, Cindy Christensen, Dawn Denner, Renee Nicosia, Danielle Cleveland, Renee Ridner, Tamara Malone and Katie Sebastian. Conway Funeral Home in Cresco handled arrangements.
Janette died Saturday morning, September 23, 2000 at the Regional Health Services Hospital in Cresco.
Janette Marie Haugsted was born January 12, 1921 the daughter of John and Mabel (Johnson) Haugsted. She graduated from Lawler High School.
On June 11, 1939 she marred Orvin Knutson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Janette worked as a cook in various restaurants in this area. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Ladies Aid.
She is survived by four daughters: Annette Katz of New Hampton; Betty Cleveland, Joan Sebastian and Pam Darland, all of Cresco; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great greatgrandchildren; aNd one brother, Alvin of Lincoln, NE.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orvin in 1981; her parents; five brothers, Art, Arvid, Andy, Leo aid Arlo Haugsted; and two sisters, Alice Whalen and an infant sister.
