IONIA -- Edna K. Kniepkamp, 87, Ionia, died Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 1 at Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton of natural causes.

Graveside memorial services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City at a later date.

Edna was born May 8, 1912 in North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Pauline (Issack) Brecht. She graduated from high school in North Dakota and attended normal school and college. She married Edwin Roedel and later married Wil Kniepkamp. She lived in Charles City for 25 years moving to Yakima, WA in the early 1970s. She taught school, retiring in 1988 in Yakima. Edna moved to Springville, AK until 1998 when she moved to New Hampton. She lived with her daughter at rural Ionia for about one year until her death.

Surviving are one son, Marlin (Sherry) Roedel, Bemidji, MN; one daughter, Ardyce (Mrs. Lyle) Poe, Ionia; one brother, Paul (Jane) Brecht, Costa Mesa, CA; two sisters, Doris Bantz, Urbandale and Freeda (Mrs. Con) Johnson, Morris, MN; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husbands, Edwin Roedel and Wil Kniepkamp; a great-grandson, Jade Smith; two brothers, Leo Brecht and Wally Brecht; one sister, Esther Harns.

Chenoweth & Son Funeral Home, Nashua, is in charge of arrangements.
