RICEVILLE - Lula Eliza Dana, 100, Riceville, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000 at the Riceville Community Rest Home.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Riceville with Rev. Michael Carey officiating. Pianist was Curtis Noble, accompanying the congregational singing of 'Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross" and vocalist Ruth Lockie in singing "In the Garden" and "Nearer, My God, To Thee".

Interment was in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, with Jeremy Miller, Matt Douglas, Marvin Haley, Kevin Dana, Orville A. Dana Jr., and Duane Lockie as pallbearers.

Lula was born in Fredericksburg on July 6, 1900, the daughter of Adult Edward and Eva Ann (Cornell) Gitsch. She attended the local schools. On Nov. 29, 1921, Lula was united in marriage with Vear St. Elmo Dana in Waterloo. She assisted her husband in his business and during the 1960s, owned and operated the Chatterbox Cafe in Riceville.

Survivors include four grandchildren, Sherri Dana and Kevin Dana, Rochester, MN, Jennifer Douglas, Erving, TX and Orville A. Dana Jr., West Paris, ME; nine great-grandchildren; eight great-greatgrandchildren; a niece, Janice Dana, New Hampton.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Vear St. Elmo Dana; her son, Orville A. Dana Sr.

Lindstrom Funeral Home, Riceville, was in charge of arrangements.
