NEW HAMPTON - Elaine E. Cleveland, 73, New Hampton, died Thursday, Feb. 17 at her home of congestive heart failure.

Funeral services were 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20 at the ongregational United Church of Christ in New Hampton with Rev. David McBride presiding. Gerald Bailey was organist and accompanied vocalists Peter and Phyllis Willadsen. Hymn selections included "Amazing Grace", "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art".

Interment was in the New Hampton Cemetery with Michael Cleveland, Daniel Ovel, Jonathon Ovel, Kevin Ovel, Marlin Ball and Ralph Beck serving as casket bearers.

Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19 at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton and for an hour before service time at the church.

Elaine E. Bergler was born May 1,1926 at Winona, MN, the daughter of George and Helen (Fakler) Bergler. She attended Winona High School and was a confirmed member of St. Martin Church in Winona. She later moved to New Hampton. Elaine married Felton William Cleveland Sept. 21, 1946 at Winona. Following their marriage, they resided in Nashua for a time before moving to New Hampton. She was employed as a secretary for many years with Highway Surfacers. Elaine was a member of the Congregational Church and the Women's Fellowship for a number of years. She was a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Elaine enjoyed her family and doing crafts and crochet-ing gifts for her friends and family.

Surviving are a son, Michael (Susan), Magnolia, TX; a daughter, Kim (Dan) Ovel, New Hampton; a step daughter, Carole (William) Birch, Wayzata, MN; three grandchildren; five step grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Ken) Ross, Stockton, MN; many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Felton on Jan. 15, 1995 and her parents.
