After a lingering illness from liver trouble, Mr. Abram A. Thompson died at his home in New Hampton about 7 o'clock Tuesday evening. He had never been strong since the war but the last two years he had grown steadily worse.
Deceased was born in Norway in 1830 and came to America in his youth, settling at Waterloo, Wis., where on June 29, 1858, he married Miss Eliza Farring. They came to Iowa in 1865, locating in Stapleton township in this county moving from there to Alpha, where they lived until they moved to New Hampton twelve years ago.
He was the father of two children, Mrs. James Hilisinger of New Hampton and Daniel Thompson of Alpha, who with his life companion mourn one whose life was a shining light and bem is on to them.
The funeral was held this morning from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. D.M. Parker and the body will be taken to Alpha for interment in the Bethel cemetery.
A nobel defender of his country's flag, an exemplary citizen and a genuine Christian man has gone from us. May he rest in peace.
