Charles Wilmer Seamans was born November 18, 1927 in Buchannan County, Iowa, the son of Wilmer and Elsie B. (McGlaughlin) Seamans. Charles attended country schools in the Littleton area growing up. After his schooling he started to help his brothers on their farms. He was a hard worker from the start.

At age 18 he started his own trucking business. He continued to farm until he entered the United States Army in 1952. While he was in active duty he courted the love of his life, Kathleen Regenold. The couple later married on July 19, 1952 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. To this union five children were born.

Charles and Kathleen made their home in Black Hawk County after they were married and started to farm. In 1957 they moved to Lawler where they continued to farm before making Fredericksburg their home in 1962. Charles farmed in the Fredericksburg area until his health would no longer allow him to. In 1974 he began Seamans’ Trucking Inc. He trucked for 13 years before retiring and eventually selling the business.

Charles was known to work hard and play hard. His faith in God got him through life's challenges. He enjoyed life to the fullest and did everything whole hearted. He enjoyed traveling with his family. Charles and Kathleen were snowbird for 28 years making their home for the winter in Avon Park, Florida.
