Obituary for Wayne Walter Mishak

Wayne Walter Mishak will be honored at Cortner Chapel, Redlands, California, Thursday, January 28, 5-8 p.m. The celebration of his life will be held in a service at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Redlands, California, Friday, January 28, 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the Portuguese Club.

Wayne was born October 18, 1934 in New Hampton Iowa. His parents were Lando and Agnes (Haus) Mishak also of New Hampton, Iowa.

He was married to his wife Jane Jacinto Mishak for 58 years. He was preceded in death by two of his children, Mark Mishak and Marilyn Mishak. He has one surviving daughter, Michelle Mishak Boland (Jim) and one grandson by his son Mark, Brian Mishak. Wayne graduated from St. Joseph High School in St. Joe Iowa, class of 1952. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving his tour of duty at Norton Air Force Base, San Bernardino California. He attended Air Traffic Control School and upon graduating from there began working for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Air Traffic Controller serving March RAPCON and Ontario Tower/TRACON for thirty one years.

After his retirement, Wayne worked for Royal Citrus Packing House in Riverside as a field foreman while maintaining and managing his own citrus groves. Wayne was a 50 year member of the Portuguese American Club, 50 year member of the Redlands Elks Lodge #583, as well a member of the American Legion in Redlands. He also served on the Citrus Preservation Committee for the City of Redlands.

Wayne has four brothers and two sisters: Frank Mishak (Marlys) Clear Lake, Iowa; Karen
Bezoenik (Brian) Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Mary Frese (Milton) New Hampton, Iowa; Joseph
Mishak (deceased) Colorado; and Leonard Mishak (deceased), Texas.

Memorial donations may be made to the Portuguese American Club Scholarship Fund.
