Obituary for Josephine "Josie" Jacobs

Josephine "Josie" Jacobs, age 67, of Fredericksburg, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Holy Family Parish, New Hampton with Rev. Mark Osterhaus celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg.

Friends may greet the family 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Visitation continues an hour prior to Mass at the church on Friday.

Josephine “Josie” Jacobs was born November 18, 1948, in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Arle and Neva (Johnson) Lienau. She received her education in Fredericksburg and graduated from the Fredericksburg High School in 1967.

On June 14, 1969, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, Iowa, she married Francis “Jake” Jacobs. To this union two children were born. Josie worked for the former Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo for several years and then was a CNA at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare until retiring in 2010.

In her free time, Josie loved time in her vegetable garden and canned for many years. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a immaculate house-keeper. Josie especially loved time with all her family and spoiling her grandchildren.

Survivors include one daughter, Tina (Butch) Britt of New Hampton; one son, Travis (Heather) Jacobs of Mason City; four grandchildren, Blake Britt of New Hampton; Mitchell Goodrich, Makella Jacobs and Trevin Jacobs all of Mason City; two sisters, Joan Kruger of Ionia and Janice Lienau of Fredericksburg; one brother, Jim (Abby) Lienau of Fredericksburg; two sisters-in-law, Rita (Leo) Rasing of New Hampton and Mary Meihost of Shell Rock, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, on April 12, 2012; a granddaughter, Alyvia Jacobs; two brothers, Jerry Lienau and John Lienau in infancy.
