Obituary for Joyceann M. Laures
Joyceann Laures, age 79 of New Hampton, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Joyceann “Joyce” was born on March 14, 1936 the daughter of Albert and Lenora (Frese) Blietz on the family farm north of Jerico, Iowa. She attended New Hampton Elementary school and New Hampton High School, graduating in 1954. After graduation, Joyce was employed by the Chickasaw County Farm Bureau Insurance Office, First National Bank in New Hampton and later on she worked at Northwestern National Bank in Rochester, Minnesota.
On August 30, 1958, Joyce was united in marriage to John Laures at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Hampton. The couple made their home on a farm 3 miles west of New Hampton until they moved to town in July 1998. Joyce is a member of Holy Family Parish and the Rosary Society. Joyce was also a member of the Red Hat Society since 2003. She enjoyed crocheting and made several afghans including one for each of her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her one son, Jerry Laures of New Hampton; three daughters, Julie (Gary) Swehla of Alta Vista, Jean (Bruce) Hanson of Rochester, MN and Dr. Jaqueline (Dr. David) Gore of Marietta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Travis (Janell) Swehla, Amy (Nick) Norby, Jessie (Jason) Shekleton, Kelly Swehla, Allison Hanson, Michelle Hanson, Luc Gore, Addison Gore; two step-granddaughters, Kara Gore and Holly Sexton; seven great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; four brothers, Kenneth (Sandi) Blietz of Clear Lake, Iowa, Lavern (Joan) Blietz of Edina, Minnesota, Ray (Helen) Blietz of California, and Dr. Jim (Connie) Blietz of Council Bluffs; two sisters-in-law, Virginia Blietz and Doris Blietz; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John on August 20, 2003; her parents; one sister, Viola Blietz; three brothers, Lyle, Glen and Vernon Blietz and sister-in-law, Darlene (Cletus) Meier.
