NEW HAMPTON - Harry T. Bearman, 76, New Hampton, died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000 of natural causes at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at Peace United Church, Fredericksburg with Pastor Joan Fumetti presiding. Organist will be Yvonne Lienau. Roger and Laura Hucke will be soloists. Their selections will include "How Great Thou Art" and "The Borning Cry". Those in attendance will join in singing "He Leadeth Me" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". .
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg with Gary Schnieder, Duane Bearman, Tim and Jim Grove, Marvin Eckenrod and Gerald Laures serving as casketbearers.
Visitation will be Monday, May 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Conway Funeral Home in New Hampton and also at the church an hour before service time.
Harry Theodore Bearman was born Jan. 24, 1924 in Dresden Township, Chickasaw County, the son of Theodore and Emma (Lienau) Bearman. He attended country school and was a 1941 graduate of Fredericksburg High School. After graduation he helped his parents on the farm and was also employed by Rath Packing Co. He was married To Evelyn Soukup on Nov. 15, 1945. Together, they farmed near New Hampton and Williamstown before moving to Bell, CA in 1953 where he was employed at Fairbanks-Morse Scale Co. They returned to Iowa in 1955 where they farmed near Cresco and in 1962 moved to near Fredericksburg where they continued farming.
In 1971, they purchased the Center Valley Supper Club near Sumner which they operated until 1983. He sold aerial farm photos until 1986. They moved to New Hampton in 1985 where he was employed by Judy's Bakery until ill health forced his retirement in 1991. In November of 1995 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Harry was a resident of New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center since June of 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn; one son, David and his wife Joyce, Nashua; three grandsons; two great-grandchildren; a step great-grandson; a brother-in-law, Cyril (Lena) Soukup; two nephews and four nieces.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a grandson, Joseph Bearman in infancy and a sister, Olinda (Vernon) Schnieder.
