John Zobeck, age 94 of New Hampton, Iowa, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 30, 2015.

Funeral services for John will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 3, 2015 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton. Committal services will follow at New Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the funeral home.

John Lewis Zobeck was born on September 6, 1920 to Louis and Anna (Horejsi) Zobeck on a farm in rural Howard County. He attended country school to the eighth grade. Upon completing his education, John began his life long career as a tireless and meticulous farmer and gardener. John met his wife, Jeanette and the couple was united in marriage in 1948. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in Howard County until 1955, when they moved to the farm south of New Hampton where John lived until the time of his passing.

John will always be remembered as a very caring man who was so incredibly proud of his family. He enjoyed hearing everyone’s life story. If he could find a way to help a friend, he would do whatever it took to make it happen. Perhaps just as important, he wanted nothing in return.
Along with his love for his family, John had a passion for collecting cars. He’s known for his extensive collection of Lincoln Continentals.

John’s end of life wishes were granted. A note of gratitude goes to Margie Dutka who assisted and supported his wishes as he began his final journey in his home.

John is survived by his stepson, Dennis (Adriana) Bradshaw of The Woodlands, TX; one step-grandson, Greg (Christine) Bradshaw of St. Augustine, FL; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Bartels of Rochester, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Jeanette Zobeck; his brothers, Charles and Dale Zobeck and his sisters, Lucille Wolf and Katherine Drtina.
