Funeral services were held Monday, September 23, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frederika for Leola Wendt, 77, of Osage. The Rev. Percy Kvitne officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery in Frederika. Mrs. Wendt died Friday, September 20, 1985 at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital. A prayer service was held Sunday evening at Champion Funeral Home in Osage.

She was born September 11, 1908 in Chickasaw County near Ionia, the daughter of August and Louise (Bergmann) Bockhaus. She was educated in rural schools there.

On June 15, 1932, she married Henry Wendt at St. John's Lutheran Church in Williamstown. The couple farmed near Frederika until 1975 when they retired and moved to Osage.

Mrs. Wendt was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Elmer.

Survivors include one son, Eldean of Osage; two sisters, Mrs. Louis (Wilma) Mueller and Mrs. Clarence (Vera) Warneke, both of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Clarence Bockhaus of Waterloo and Raymond Bockhaus of Cedar Falls and four grandchildren.
