NEW HAMPTON - Sharon Rose McDowell, 60, of New Hampton, died at home Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006.

She was born July 20, 1946, in Waucoma, daughter of Irvin and Evelyn Vrzak Winter. She married Jim McDowell on Feb. 7, 1970, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton, and they later divorced.

Mrs. McDowell graduated in 1965 from New Hampton High School. She had worked since 1963, 42 years, at the Klunder's Cafe, formerly the Crystal Grill in New Hampton. She also made many wedding cakes for the last 38 years and was a licensed beautician.

Survivors include her mother of New Hampton; two brothers, LaVern (Vada) and Lee (Diane) Winter, both of Charles City; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Winter of McFalls, Mo.

Preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Winter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary's Center, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in New Hampton. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary and a 6 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
