Frank Hewitt

J. F. Hewitt Died Thursday Night
Had Been Ailing For Several
Weeks. Was Born In This
County In 1859 And Always
Made His Home Here.

J. Frank Hewitt, well known and highly respected
man of this town and county died at St. Joseph's
Hospital, Thursday night, July 22nd following several weeks of very serious internal disease. A
recent operation only disclosed the fact relief for him was not possible and that his day was near at hand.

His funeral was held from his home Sunday afternoon, July 25th and was conducted by Very Rev. J.V. Casey, pastor of St. Joseph's church and burial was made in Graceland cemetery.

The deceased Frank Hewitt was born in Chickasaw County, December 13, 1859 and has made this his home throughout the nearly sixty-seven years of his life. He grew to manhood and received his education in the rural schools of his day.

He was first married to Miss Minnie Dixon (now deceased). To this union five children were born; Chester Hewitt of Los Angeles, California; Lyman Hewitt who died in the service during the World War; Mrs. Cora Cutler who was buried in Graceland cemetery this last July 3rd and Mrs. Florence Mishaud of White Bear, Minnesota, Frank Hewitt of Spokane, Washington.

February 5, 1921 he was married to Mrs. Clara Holschlag who with three of his own children and the following step-children survive; Wilford Holschlag of New Hampton, Mrs. Charles Shiek of Wa terloo, Mrs. Leo Blocker of New Hampton and Clair at home.

Besides the above he leaves to mourn his death the following brothers and sister: Bates Hewitt of Jacksonville; J. C. Hewitt of New Hampton, J. H. Hewitt of Sterling, Illinois; Mrs. M. Davidson of Forreston, Minnesota; and Mrs. Bertha Brauer of Sterling, Illinois.

Mr. Hewitt has ____ ____ __________ himself with the Methodist church though some members of his family joined others. He was big and broad minded, loved and respected by relatives, neighbors and friends everywhere.

To his widow and children, and to his brothers and sisters, and other relazgtives and friends we extend sympathy in this time of great sorrow.
