NEW HAMPTON - Shirley Pauline Messersmith, 62, of New Hampton, died at home Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005.

She was born Oct. 19, 1942, in New Hampton, daughter of Victor and Anna Peterson Vorwald. On Oct. 28, 1960, she married Terry Messersmith at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton.

Mrs. Messersmith and her husband farm west of New Hampton. She worked for the Sara Lee Thrift Store, New Hampton, for 11 years and later started as a cook at the elementary school and as a waitress at Poor Richards, both of which she had worked for more than 20 years and was currently employed.

Survivors include: her husband; a daughter, Cindy Randall of New Hampton; a son, Brad (Cindy) of Ionia; two grandchildren; six sisters, Eleanor Grimms and Velora Vorwald, both of Minneapolis, Hazel (Marce) Kacher of Waterloo, and Jean Tank, Edna Koleno and Carol (Lloyd) Drewelow, all of New Hampton; and two brothers, Merle Vorwald of New Hampton and Donald (Lois) Vorwald of Toledo.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Harold Duane Vorwald in infancy, Kenneth William and Gerald Vorwald; and an infant sister Mary Ellen Vorwald.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hampton, with burial in New Hampton Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
