NEW HAMPTON - Madeline M. Franzen, 91, of New Hampton, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Dec. 26, 1913, in Waucoma, daughter of John Thomas and Genevieve Louise Hetherton Kelly. She married Carl B. Franzen in May 1942.

She received her teaching degree at Upper Iowa University, Fayette, and taught in a one-room schoolhouse until her marriage. Mrs. Franzen farmed near Little Turkey and later near Fredericksburg with her husband.

Survived by her husband; a daughter, Maureen Doris (John) Skeese of North Hollywood, Calif.; and a sister, Anna Nelson of Blooming Prairie, Minn.

Preceded in death by a son, David Carl; a brother, John Kelly; and two sisters, Madonna Katcher and Mildred Woodson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Center, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, both in New Hampton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 5 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.
