FREDERICKSBURG - Lois Lee Drape, 79, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton.

She was born April 5, 1926, in Fayette County, daughter of Paul and Jennie Haines Gifford. She married Marlin J. Drape Dec. 2, 1944, in Bentonville, Ark. He died June 24, 2001.

She graduated from Alpha High School in 1944. Mrs. Drape and her husband were active in their business, the Stork Hatchery, and also farmed. In 1966, they semi-retired, still selling birds for other hatcheries.

Survived by three sons, Larry (Brenda) of Seoul, South Korea, and Kayle (Linda) and Milo (Jolee), both of Fredericksburg; a daughter, Dawn Aschenbrenner of Pineville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marilyn Gifford of Florida.

Preceded in death by four brothers, LaVern, Kenneth, Noel and Kayle Gifford; and a granddaughter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, both in Fredericksburg. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Fredericksburg, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
