Cyril, 87, died Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah.

Cyril Albert Bouska was born February 6, 1917 in Howard County near Schley, the son of Ben J. and Nellie (Mikesh) Bouska. He attended school in Protivin and graduated from Rudolphinum High School. Following his schooling, he returned to the farm. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on April 3, 1941 and served in the European -African-Middle Eastern Theatre for the biggest part of his tour of duty. He was discharged on July 18, 1945. Upon returning home, he returned to farming.

On June 4, 1946 he married Catherine E. Courtney in St. Bridget's Catholic Church at Bluffton. They raised their family on the farm, even though they wintered in Florida or Oklahoma.

Cyril was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #2744 of Protivin, the American Legion Post #605 receiving his 60-year certificate and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #4561 of Cresco. He was an assessor of Sumner and Jackson Townships and was the Clerk of Sumner Township. Cyril helped to start the Protivin Fire Department and was instrumental in purchasing the first truck. He enjoyed woodworking in his spare time, but seemed to have little of that.

He is survived by his wife Kay; one son: Gary of Jensen Beach, FL; one daughter: Wanda Waugh of Bartleville, OK; and three grandchildren.

Cyril was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister: Mildred Fencl.
