HAMPTON - Richard A. Wosepka, 74, of Snowflake and Apache Junction, Ariz., formerly of Clear Lake, died at the home of his daughter in Traer on Feb. 7, 2006.

He was born April 18, 1931, in Britton, S.D., son of Lyle and Gail Jones Wosepka.

Mr. Wosepka graduated from high school in Hampton in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served with the 101st Airborne Paratroopers in Fort Campbell, Ky. He later began working at the Country House Supper Club, Mason City, eventually buying and running it until 1971 when he built the 7 Nations Restaurant and Lounge. At this time, he and several friends opened the Stein Inn. After selling these businesses, he bought the Backyard Deli in Clear Lake and ran it until he retired.

Survivors include three daughters, Lori (Russell) Riechmann of Traer and Denise Kopp and Kelly Swanson, both of Mason City; a son, Mark (Penny) of Shell Rock; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Lyle (Marial) of Wilton, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Carol (Don) Wosepka of Hampton.

Preceded in death by a brother, Don.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Ward-VanSlyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake. Military honors will be conducted by Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.

Memorials may be directed to the Shriner's Children's Hospital, the Humane Society, Hospice or the Richard A. Wosepka Memorial Fund.
