Obituary for Doris G. Kollmann--

Doris G. Kollmann age 92 of Ionia died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, with Rev. James Mann presiding. Intgerment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City, with Bill Sinnwell Jr., Nat Sinnwell, Tim Kollmann, Nick Kollmann, Dan Forry and Jim Forry serving as pallbearers.

Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, march 4, 2012, at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation continues an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Online condolences for Doris' family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com.

Doris Gertrude Kollmann was born October 29, 1919, in rural Chickasaw County, Iowa, the daughter of Harry U. and Nell G. (Chambers) Smith. On December 31, 1938, she married Raymond Manners. To this union a son, Michael and daughter, Marlys were born. The couple later divorced.

On December 10, 1944, she married Lawrence H. Kollmann. To this union two sons were born, Lawrence Jr. and Douglas. Doris was a mother and homemaker who loved to do crossword puzzles, play cards with her sisters and was devoted to writing in her diary.

Survivors include one daughter, Marlys (Bill) Sinnwell Sr., of New Hampton; one son, Douglas A. Kollmann of Ionia; four granddaughters, Ann (Dennis) Preuss of Dunkerton, Eva Determan of Mason City, Cara (Kevin) Patterson of Vinton, Angelina (Darin) Dietz of Nashua; four grandsons, Bill (Denise) Sinnwell Jr. of New Hampton, Tim (Wynona) Kollmann of Littleton, CO, Nick (Kristin) Kollmann of Loveland, CO, Nathaniel (Amy) Sinnwell of Nashua; fifteen great-grandchildren; one brother, John “Jack” Smith of Clarksville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Michael Manners, Lawrence “Ike” Kollmann Jr.; two sisters, Mary Yost, Glendora Forry; one brother, Howard Smith in infancy.
