Selma I. Hahn, age 99, of New Hampton, IA, died on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at New Hampton Care Center in New Hampton.
Selma Irene Schnieder was born on July 14, 1911 to William and Lydia (Kahn) Schnieder in New Hampton, Iowa. She attended country school and New Hampton High School. Selma was united in marriage to Emil Hahn on May 28, 1929 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church (now Trinity Lutheran Church) in New Hampton. The couple farmed in Chickasaw County all their married life until they retired in 1963. They lived in New Hampton for 13 years before moving to Ionia where they lived for 15 years. Selma moved back to New Hampton after Emils death and entered New Hampton Care Center in 2005. Selma enjoyed making quilts and pot holders, playing cards, flowers, cooking and her family. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Quilting Circle and Trinity Lutheran Church Club.
Selma is survived two sons Lloyd (Mary) Hahn of Fairbank, Iowa and Jerry (Bonnie) Hahn of Cedar Falls, Iowa; son-in-law David Troyna of New Hampton, Iowa; sister-in-law Grace Hahn of Sumner, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Emil; son Edward; daughter Lavonne Troyna; two brothers Vernon Schnieder and Virgil Schnieder; two sisters Wilhemina Weidler and Gladys Hugeback; and grandson Terry Hahn.
New Hampton Cemetery, New Hampton, Iowa
Visitation will be on Monday, November 8, 2010, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to the New Hampton Care Center Beauty Salon.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton, with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating.
