Donald R. Breitbach, age 93, of New Hampton, IA died Monday, June 7, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton, IA.
Donald Raymond Breitbach was born on September 2, 1916 to Edward and Mabel (French) Breitbach in Independence, Iowa. As a small boy Donald moved with his family to New Hampton, where he graduated from high school in 1934. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Secrist on February 14, 1939 at Sacred Heart Rectory in Reilly Ridge. The couple lived and farmed in the New Hampton area until they retired. Donald continued to live on the farm until 2007 when he moved into Kensington Place. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. He was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Marys Center.
Donald is survived by children, Linda (Clyde) Gilson of Torrington, Wyoming, David (Kay) Breitbach of Roseville, Minnesota, and Nancy (Robert) Pudil of La Porte City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one sister, Ruth (Eugene) Schultz of New Hampton; one brother, Richard (Eileen) Breitbach of New Hampton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Ellen, one brother Edward Breitbach; two sisters Viola Palmersheim, and Katherine Duryee; and one son Dennis Breitbach.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery at New Hampton with Michael Gilson, James Breitbach, Joseph Breitbach, Gary Breitbach, Daryl Breitbach, and David Gilson serving as casket bearers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 4:00-8:00pm at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 5:00 pm rosary and a7:00 pm scriptural wake service. Visitation will continue at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Holy Family Parish-St. Marys Center in New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating.
