Russell Sullivan – June 4, 1928 – May 13, 1971

RUSSELL SULLIVAN DIES AT 42

Funeral Mass was said at 11 a.m. Monday, May 17 at St. Michael’s Church in Nashua for Russell J. Sullivan, 42, of rural Nashua, who was found dead on his tractor Thursday evening of an apparent heart attack. Father Louis Flynn officiated.

Military rites were conducted by members of the American Legion Posts of New Hampton and Nashua. Casket bearers were Pat Shekleton, Ed Meyers, Bill Webb, Norman Heit, and Ray Berry, all of New Hampton, and Leo Reicks of Nashua. Burial was in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens at Charles City.

Two busloads of students attended the funeral services, as many were in the same classes as the Sullivan children.

Russell Sullivan was born June 4, 1928 in Chickasaw County to Clem and Laura Sullivan. He attended St. Joseph’s school and high school in New Hampton. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict.

He was married November 29, 1951 to Delores Reicherts at Jerico. He farmed near New Hampton until two years ago when he and his family moved to the Republic vicinity, buying the Floyd Arns farm.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and of the American Legion.

Survivors of Mrs. Sullivan are his wife, Delores; two sons, Bill and Tom; and four daughters, Rose, Kathy, Judy and Linda, all of whom are at home. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard.
